Hello parents and teachers!
Rally with the Heroes This Saturday (Oct. 20) is our second largest fundraiser of the year: Parkway Rally in the Valle AKA a fun day parking cars at the Valle Country Fair. Will help us earn thousands for our students and classrooms on Saturday? WE REALLY NEED 13 MORE HEROES to join our main shift effort this Saturday, Oct. 20. Teachers or parents who volunteer for the main Saturday shift earn $100 for their beneficiary; those who volunteer for any other full shift receive $50. JUST ANNOUNCED: Give Whatever you Can We know many (most? all?) have other obligations on this busy Saturday. So if you can't work the full shift, but want to give a few hours, you can still help, and we'll pro-rate the incentive. Please email us with questions or indicate your limitations on the sign up genius now! JUST ANNOUNCED: Looking to Fist Bump A Few Good Partnering Orgs If you are involved with or know of non-profit groups doing good work in our community that are in need of funds and those groups can supply volunteers for Saturday's full, main shift, they are now eligible to participate with the incentive! They must sign up on the sign-up genius and indicate their organization, and this external partner offer only applies to the full, main Saturday shifts. Phone a friend You can also take action by phoning a friend or forwarding this message to make a personal ask of your friends on our behalf. Anyone 16 years of age or older willing to contribute to our school (Grandparents? Parkway Alumni?) is eligible. No background checks are required. Please take whatever action you can, and THANK YOU in advance for your help! The Watauga Democrat recently reported that Parkway School has completed a second straight undefeated season and won its fourth straight tournament championship. Congrats ladies! This Saturday (Oct. 20) is our second largest fundraiser of the year: Parkway Rally in the Valle AKA a fun day parking cars at the Valle Country Fair.
BE A HERO: With leadership from Parkway Dads Extraordinaire Murray, Critcher and Miller, a team of 20+ volunteers (our new best friends, listed on the sign-up genius) will help us earn $5,000 for our students and classrooms - all in (pretty much) one day's work. AND this is the only PTO fundraiser that doesn't hit us community members in our pocketbooks. But can you believe it, WE STILL NEED 16 MORE HEROES to join our main shift effort this Saturday, Oct. 20 (6:30AM-3PM) JUST ANNOUNCED! $$ INCENTIVES: Teachers or parents who volunteer for the main Saturday shift earn $100 for their beneficiary (field trip scholarships, general fund or specific classrooms). Teachers or parents who volunteer for any other full shift receive $50. Questions? Ask us. How can you help: Sign up now or take action by phoning a friend or forwarding this message to make a personal ask of your friends on our behalf. Anyone 16 years of age or older willing to contribute to our school (Grandparents? Parkway Alumni?) is eligible. No background checks are required. Thank you! PS - We really need you; please help if you can! PPS - Thanks to the 22 of you who attended last week's PTO Meeting. Minutes (and super tentative) agendas can always be found on our website.
Are you getting email from [email protected]? They're all cat videos, pretty much.
Don't believe me? Type your email into the "Sign up to receive PTO communications" box on our homepage. FURREAL though, shout out to Heart of a Lion Rescue for this adorable cat video, and yes, Parkway PTO needs your email address so we can send you occasional volunteer opportunities and important school and community-related information. We will not over use your info, and we will not share it with anyone else! Make sure you're in the PT-KNOW by receiving our email messages. The High Country Press recently reported that, at the October meeting of the Watauga County Board of Education, the school board recognized four groups of individuals for various achievements. Among the groups were Watauga County Schools Principals, who were recognized for Principal Appreciation Month. Pictured are Cove Creek’s Kelly Walker, Parkway’s Patty Buckner, Blowing Rock’s Patrick Sukow, Hardin Park’s Mary Smalling, Mabel’s Mark Hagaman, Valle Crucis’ Preston Clarke, Watauga High School’s Chris Blanton, Bethel’s Brian Bettis and Green Valley’s Phil Norman. Planning your week? Give us one hour.
We need and value each parent and teacher! As you're planning your week, set aside an hour to serve your community by attending the October PTO meeting this Tuesday, Oct. 9, 5:30-6:30 p.m. We'll meet in the Music Room; please enter through the parking lot to the left of the main entrance. Thanks to our outstanding student council members; childcare will be provided. Bring your ideas, talents, skills and abilities, or just bring your willingness to be part of a great community! We love constructive feedback! Friday's Fall Festival for Parkway School was a huge success, thanks to the time, love and energy of hundreds of volunteers and contributors. Fall Festival is truly an event that matters; the funds we help to raise and the relationships we build through this event are crucial to the success of Parkway’s students and teachers. About that festival... we really love constructive feedback; will you click through this survey to offer your ideas or suggestions for future festivals? There are no required fields, so skip all the sections for which you have no input to save time. Thank you, and we hope to see you Tuesday at 5:30! Happy Fall Parkway School Community! This Friday, Oct. 5, from 5:30-8:00PM is Fall Festival, and there's *SO MUCH* we want you to know.
Grade Baskets Hundreds of generous parents have donated items for The. Most. Beautiful. GRADE BASKETS that we've ever seen. There's a flier attached, or check them out on our PTO Facebook Page. The point is - DO NOT MISS dropping in your ticket(s) for a chance to win one of these come Friday. Silent Auction While you're on the FB page, get your bids in early for the silent auction. There are already more than 100 items up for bid and the jaw-dropping list of goods and services is growing. With so many items, you're sure to score some discounted goodies. PS Christmas shopping approach-eth. Do yourself a favor, and get all your shopping done in the media center this Friday. Win-Win. Cake Donations Friday Morning Baking cakes for the Cake Walk? Sweet! Come one, come all, to the great cake drop-off on Friday morning. We'll have volunteers onsite to make things as easy as possible, but please be mindful not to delay the main drop-off area. If you're bringing 20 cakes (and we hope you are), you'll want to park and walk in. As you approach the drive, if you can, hand off your item(s) to the volunteer in the median, that's great, too. Finally, it's helpful if you will provide a list of ingredients for homemade goodies. We especially want to be mindful of our yummies that contain allergens such as peanuts. Still Some Tickets Available for BBQ Dinner Good news! We ordered 60 extra BBQ plates, so if you missed the pre-sale, you're in luck. Tickets are available on a first come-first served basis from now 'til they're gone on Friday. We've re-opened the online purchase option, so head on over to the shop tab on our website to guarantee your vittles. T-Shirts On-Site Were you stressing over that "school pride" day during spirit week? Never again, you say? We'll have you (literally) covered with a variety of sizes in the latest parkway tees available for purchase on Friday evening for $15 each. Cash or Credit! It is always handy to have cash at a fall festival, but good news to those of us who never have a buck to our name... You will be able to make purchases by credit, including purchasing tickets good for laser tag, jump, cake walk, cotton candy, etc. Invite Your Friends and Family! Forward this email to your friends and family. We want them to come be part of an amazing community event this Friday. See you there! |
